Project Overview CHAMP
CHAMP will investigate the determinants of different allergic diseases (food allergy, atopic dermatitis, asthma, hay fever) from birth to adolescence. Particular attention will be given to factors determining primary tolerance (no onset of disease) and acquired tolerance (remission of existing disease). We will identify clinically relevant biomarkers predicting early onset, progression and remission.
The reseach project is divided into the following subprojects:
- SP 1 – Project management: operational management incl. administrative, financial and legal issues
- SP 2 - Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and adolescents with allergic diseases and quality of life (QoL) of their parents: To evaluate HRQoL across different allergic diseases, various disease stages and progression and age groups
- SP 3 – Early priming of allergic diseases: To define a molecular allergy score early in life predicting later allergy risk
- SP 4 – Natural resolution factors in tolerance development of food allergy: To identify predictors of natural tolerance of food allergy
- SP 5 – Severity and co-morbidities of allergic diseases: To predict mild versus severe allergic disease and identify relevant biomarkers
- SP 6 – Mechanism and markers for remission of allergic diseases: To identify predictors of remission of asthma and hay fever occurring spontaneously or after immunotherapy
- SP 7 – Data integration and microbiome analysis in allergies: To understand the role of the microbiome in onset and remission of atopic dermatitis, food allergy and allergic asthma
- SP 8 – Priming of tolerance and allergy: To assess underlying mechanisms in murine models of allergy development with focus on early tolerance induction
- DAAB e.V. - Supporting project with contact interface to target group - Allergic diseases from a patient point of view: Survey regarding perceptions and requests of allergic patients
